Research Impact Scholarships encourage final year Manchester undergraduates, and recent graduates, to join top-quality research teams in seeking to solve some of the most challenging problems we face today - from poverty and cancer through to global warming and debilatating medical conditions. Opening up these research opportunities benefits the students themselves, the University, and more importantly society at large - they are a direct form of investment in all of our futures.
To date, donors have funded twenty eight students over three academic years and the first Research Impact Scholars supported by Your Manchester Fund will be graduating in 2009.

Government Matched Funding Scheme
- The UK government has launched a program to encourage gifts from alumni and others to support English Higher Education institutions, known as the Matched Funding Scheme.
- As a former student, we can add at least a third to the value of your gift, at no extra cost to you.
- The Government Matched Funding Scheme also applies to Gift Aid, and matching gifts from your employers.
Employer Matched Giving Scheme
- Many employers will make matching gifts when their staff give to charity, with some companies matching the gift one-to-one, and some even doubling the gift.
- To see if your employer runs an Employer Matched Giving Scheme, contact your Payroll or Personnel department.
Gift Aid
- Under the Gift Aid scheme, tax can be reclaimed on donations of any amount as long as you are a UK tax payer. This will enable The University of Manchester to increase the value of your gift by over 28% at no extra cost to you.
